Chapter 1: Morning Rush
“RING! RING! RING! The person you are calling is unavailable to take your call right now, please leave a message after the tone. BEEP…”
“Sora! For God’s sakes, it’s 10:30!!! Where are you? You’re supposed to be here at the office right now! Do you have any idea what’s happening right now? Sora! Sora...!”
Sora who was in the bathroom taking a shower came out in her champagne coloured silk robe while drying her hair and picks up the phone.
“Good morning Melissa. What’s with all the fuss in the morning?” asked Sora, who is still relaxingly drying her hair with a towel.
“Don’t you know what’s going on right now?” asked Melissa.
“Melissa dear, if I know, I wouldn’t be asking now, would I? Besides, it’s your responsibility to inform me what’s happening at the office while I’m not there,” responded Sora in a jolly tone.
“I received a call from Janice this morning and she said that the Chairman and the others are back from the meeting in New York. They’re going to be here in fifteen minutes!” replied Melissa in a firm tone, while Sora’s jaw drops and sticks her tongue out.
“What? I thought he’s going to be back tomorrow instead! That’s what he told me over the phone yesterday!” responded Sora as she begins to lose her composure. Sora starts to pace back and forth while biting her thumb.
Sora paused her pacing and said, “Alright Melissa! I will try to get there as soon as possible. In the meantime, find out how far he is from the office for me and call me straight away.”
Sora then quickly gets dressed and darted out of her house. She got into her fire opal Mercedes-Benz SL 65 Roadster and drove off.
Sora lives twenty-minute drive away from her office in the Cheongdam region and she would need to step on the gas pedal to reach there in ten minutes. Dodging through all the other cars in her path, Sora was just two traffic lights away from her office. The second last light was about to change to red in 30 seconds and Sora quickly hit the gas and sped forward; avoiding the already changed red light. Sora gave a victorious, yet determined smile as she made it through before the lights changed.
As she was about to approach the last round of changing traffic lights before reaching her office, Sora was determined to make it through these sets of lights as well. She starts to increase her speed yet again – only this time there was another car, a stratus white Aston Martin Vanquish cut in right in front of her, causing her to hit the brakes immediately to avoid a collision between the two cars. The sudden stop of the car, not only got Sora to hit her forehead on the driving wheel, but also made her miss the last set of lights.
“Ouch! My head…” Sora let out while placing her palm on her forehead to rub off the pain from the hit. She looked up and the lights were already red and pedestrians crossing the road were glancing and staring in her direction. As soon as she noticed the glances and stares, she partly covered her face with her hand and looked at the clock in her car. It read 10:50 and the Chairman should be at the office already.
“Seriously… Aw, I’m late! Aisshh! What is wrong with that person cutting in in front of me like that” as Sora let out her frustration, she suddenly received a call from Melissa.
“Hey! It’s Melissa. Where are you right now?”
“…I’m one street away from the office,” said Sora, as she continues on the road towards her office.
“Well, I’m calling to tell you that the Chairman hasn’t arrived yet, but he’s still on his way here. So hurry up, Sora” urged Melissa.
“That’s good! Thanks Melissa! I’m actually down in the underground parking right now, will be there in five minutes,” as Sora parks her car in her designated spot. She switched off her car’s engine and got out. She was wearing a one-piece black silk short dress that enhances the lines and curves of her already S-curved body. With the short dress, it allowed her to display her long model-like legs that all men and women would die for.
As Sora heads towards the company lift, the two security guards on duty both greeted her, “Good morning Miss Kang.” One of them is Rob, who has worked at the company for almost 15 years and the other is Chang, who recently just got on the job.
“Do you need help with anything Miss Kang?” Chang asked with a happy smile on his face and if anyone who saw his face, they would know he has a crush on the beautiful Sora.
Sora giggled as she finds him cute for asking, “It’s alright Chang. I don’t have much any ways, unless you want to help me hold my purse.” While laughing, the lift arrived and Sora entered.
“Have a nice day Miss Kang!” said Chang while smiling and waving.
“You too Chang-ssi, you too!” said Sora as the elevator doors closed.
Finally, Sora reached the floor of her office. She is the senior executive manager for her company in the marketing department. She looked at her watch and it was already five minutes till eleven. The elevator doors open and Melissa was already standing in front of the elevator doors waiting for Sora.
“Thank God! You’re finally here! Here you go, your grande Americano,” said Melissa in relief while handing Sora her coffee.
“Thanks Melissa! So is the chairman here yet?” asked Sora, as both headed towards her office door.
“Not yet, but he should be here shortly,” replied Melissa, who suddenly stopped when she noticed something. “Sora, Oh my goodness! What happen to your forehead?” Melissa stunned to find a light bruise on the centre of Sora’s forehead.
“What? What is it?” Sora asked and Melissa handed Sora her pocket mirror. Sora saw a light pink bruise on her forehead and blurted, “Omo! What is this? Must be that crazy driver’s fault! Aish! Do you think it’ll go away quickly?” asked Sora while trying to rub the bruise away. Both were looking at each other and Melissa was trying to help Sora with the attempt to make the bruise go away, but suddenly both heard a strong manly voice from behind.
“It wouldn’t be there in the first place if you drove carefully to work!”
Both Sora and Melissa slowly straighten their backs and gradually turned around. Both recognized the voice.
“Good morning Mr. Chairman.” Melissa greeted as soon as she faced him.
“Good morning Mr. Chairman,” Sora greeted while looking up at the chairman.
The chairman looked at Sora with one raised eyebrow. Instead of looking at the chairman straight in the eyes, she gave out glances instead. She was trying her best to avoid direct eye contact. She knew that there will be some long explaining to do.
The chairman then let out a sigh and said, “Miss Kang, may I have a word with you in your office please,” and then turned to Melissa, “Miss Kim, one espresso please.”
“Right away Mr. Chairman,” replied Melissa who nodded to indicate she heard the order.
“Sora! For God’s sakes, it’s 10:30!!! Where are you? You’re supposed to be here at the office right now! Do you have any idea what’s happening right now? Sora! Sora...!”
